You have to be listening

Yesterday evening I was at Bethany’s basketball practice sitting there watching while i was also playing on my Ipad with Andrew when I received an email. The email was from my parents saying, “you called us and we hollered but you never heard us or answered.” I never heard them because I wasn’t listening for them.

That impacted me as I realized that so many others miss out on the Father’s voice all because they were not listening. Samuel heard God speaking but Eli missed it. Why? Because one was waiting expectantly while the other had become so old that he wasn’t in tune spiritually anymore.

If you desire to hear from the Father, then you must be listening for His voice!

What a great day it was at New Life.  I love the spirit that we have right now at the church.  I am really feeling a spirit of worship and hunger in our midst.  This morning I spoke about Broken Christians and how we live with a generation of people who are quick to say “Don’t Judge Me” when in fact it is our responsibility to lovingly correct them if they call themselves a brother or sister in the Lord.  Spiritual correction must always be done in a spirit of gentleness and love.

Last night the choir was once again packed and I shared my heart about how we must all be evangelists.  The Bible is clear that we must “Go Out, and then Come it.”  We must be willingly to take measure to compel them to come.

All in all it was a great day at New Life and this week will be busy as we are preparing for our annual Stewardship Banquet.  Make plans to be there and don’t miss this Sunday or Sunday night!

Coming off of a Fast

As I sit here and type this blog entry I am hungry.  I am more hungry spiritually than physically.  At some point today I will come off of the fast that I have led and go back to eating as normal.  When that happens I hope that the spiritual hunger that I feel does not go away.  I am hungry and thirsty for holiness and righteousness.  Nothing else really matters now except Christ and that is a great place to be.

Can a defeat bring victory?

In life we all face defeats.  When I say defeats I am talking about the kind that leave you in shock, numb from the pain, and tears streaming down your face.  It doesn’t matter how great you are, how talented you are, or how anointed you are we all will face defeat at some point in our lives.

I have faced several of those in my lifetime and each one of them hurt and they hurt bad.  The pain is real, the heart-break is seemingly unbearable, and the struggle to just want to throw your hands up in the air and quit is one of the hardest battles that you will ever face.  If you are currently in one of these times I promise you that you will get up again if you and only you alone decide to.  It is in the midst of great sorrow that great joy is birthed!  The Bible teaches us that sorrow endures for a season but joy comes in the morning.

You may feel down and out and in great despair but understand that you will only stay down just as long as you choose to stay down.  Look up today because God has greater plans.  They may be different from our plans or His plans may eventually take you where you want to go but just a different route.  If you choose to get up from your defeat your path will lead to victory.  That is a promise from me because I have been there.

I really enjoyed church today at New Life.  I really did feel the Lord blessing and moving at the church as we had 4 people walk down the aisle to ask for the forgiveness of their sins and accept Christ as their Savior and Lord.  It was awesome!!!  I continued speaking on “Broken” and how this world is broken and decieved because the church has not been what we were supposed to be.  God has called us to holy and righteous living.

Last night I spoke on the subject of “Prayers for the church” and I was throughly blessed by the choir.  It was by far my favorite night with the singing.  I absolutely loved the song “He’s been faithful” and it ministered to my heart.

The Daniel fast is now going into its final week and I know that some are going to be starting it up this week.  I have also called the church to a corporate and complete fast for next Sunday.  I am believing for God to meet the needs of his people and move in a mighty way.

It was a great day at New Life this Sunday.  The music was excellent and there really was just a great spirit of worship in the house.  I started off our new series “Broken” with “A Broken Country”, and there was a super response in the altars of people repenting before the Lord.

Due to the weather forecast we moved our Sunday evening service up one hour and we still had a great turnout.  I preached on the Holy Spirit and we had 3 people filled with the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking with other tongues.  It was a truly great service as we had other believers seeking and praying with each person who came forward desiring the baptism.

God is truly great and greatly to be praised.  We are marching and moving forward to be all that we can be for Christ!

This morning as I was starting to type a blog entry I heard some geese outside flying by making noise.  They instinctively know to fly south for the winter.  Our instinctive nature as humans is to have a sinful and carnal nature.  I wonder if we can train our own instincts to have the mind of Christ instead of the carnal mind?  I think that we can but it is a work of the Holy Spirit in us that leads us to a sanctified nature.  What do your instincts tell you?
