Living the New Life

Announcement

I gave a little tease at the beginning of the week that we had a big announcement to make.  Last night at church I had the pleasure of announcing that Tyler Goss will be coming on board the leadership team at New Life as Co- Youth Pastor with Rory Payne.

Tyler is just an outstanding young man and we are excited to have him partner with us to further advance the Kingdom of God.  Tyler is 20 years old who has a rich history in the Church of God.  His grandfather has pastored for years in S. Ga.  We are so excited how God has opened this door for our church.

Sunday Recap

It is Sunday night, I am tired, my back hurts, but I feel great on the inside.  This weekend was one of the proudest moments of my ministerial life.  Saturday, New Lifers blew me away with their support.  At the last minute we were asked to supply the workers for a company picnic for Lithonia Lighting.  They needed 55 workers from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm.  I was worried, but we had a total of 88 different people showed up and showed out!  It was so awesome and amazing!!!!

I was really expecting to be a little down in attendance today considering how hard everyone worked.  I was wrong.  We had 215 in attendance and we just had a blast.  A Harvest Blast matter of fact.

I finished the series “The Marriage Project” with the decision to submit.  I encouraged couples to stop playing tug of war with their wills but to not drop the rope.  We need to pull together in the same direction.  We had so many couples come down to hold the rope together.

I will be resuming a more regular blog schedule and I will definitely be putting up some pictures of this past weekend.  I will also have some huge news to announce later this week!

Mistake

We were all set up to do a large mailout this morning and a mistake by UPS has pushed back the date till tomorrow.  It is has really messed up some of our plans.

We as people need to realize that when we make mistakes it causes others pain.  We have a responsibility to not only ourselves but also those around us as well.  Sometimes it is a heavy task, but trust in the Lord that He is able to carry the load for you.

Sunday Recap

We had a pretty good day yesterday.  Praise and Worship was really great and it was a moving experience especially how they finished with the song “Who can satisfy”.  We had 154 in attendance.  I spoke on “The decision to Love”.

All in all it was a busy day (weekend) and I am at the office today trying to get some work done.  A lot is happening and I will keep everyone up to date as soon as possible.

Productivity

I was thinking this morning about the amount of work that I was able to get down in a relatively short amount of time.  The thought took root in my mind about what is my most productive hour during the day.  The answer was almost immediate:  The 8 am till 9 am hour.  I have very few calls and I am also alone at the church office.  The second most productive hour is 4:30 am till 5:30 am.  While I am not working every morning by 4:30 (about 3 times a week), when I do I am able to get more accomplished.  I think it is because there are less distractions. I feel a part II coming on tomorrow…….

Collision
October 15, 2008, 6:14 am

Last night I was driving back from a minister’s meeting in Tifton and all of a sudden I had a collision.  Two deer came out of the woods and came across the road.  I slammed on the brakes and avoided the first deer but the other deer slammed into the side of my car.  I was shaken, my adrenaline was pumping, and I was concerned about my car.  I knew that I was in the middle of nowhere (between Cordele and Hawkinsville), so I kept on going not knowing the damage.

This morning I was thinking about that and I felt the Lord gently nudge my spirit about the lives of people in general.  Many of us have been going along and all of a sudden a spiritual collision happens.  It shakes and rattles us to the core.  We do become fearful of what is happening to us.  These are natural responses to crisis.  The thing that we must do is keep going.  Never stop in the middle of the crisis.  Keep going!  The Bible says in Psalms 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

The valley is dark.  It is lonely and it can be scary.  If you are in a valley today, I encourage you to notice that in Psalm 23:4 David was walking.  He never said that he stopped.  Why?  Because he knew that the Lord was with him and that God would comfort Him.  He knew that God was in control.

Keep going today, keep walking, and let God bring you the comfort and peace that comes from above.

BTW:  When I came into Hawkinsville I looked over the car and saw no damage to my vehicle. Praise the Lord!!!!
